Have so many pictures to put up, but so little time to resize them.. does anyone have any software, or whatever that can allow resizing to be done quickly? i have no time to resize them on photoshop.. but then pretty much don’t have time for any other thing!!
Work as usual has been piling up.. so i don’t have the time to make my blog pretty and nice again..with lovely pictures i took.. no time to booooooootify my blog.. not good yah?
But on a more serious note.. I just completed my Legal Aid.. Its a 14 day compulsory legal aid training, to give back to society.. its a programme for us chambering students to do in our 9 months period.. ITS amazing i tell you, the feeling of helping the needy.
There’s a wide variety of legal aid to choose from. Some of which is the Dock Brief Programme (helping Accused persons to mitigate their case in court), Tenaganita (for employment matters), AWAM ( deals with women related issues like violence against women), Prison Visitation (visit our local prisons, to interview detainees on their needs, or informing their family members that they are being detained..), UNHCR ( i hope i got it right - i deals with refugees seeking asylum in Malaysia) and of course the programme i did, which is the Legal Aid Clinic.
I chose the Legal Aid Clinic as it dealt with many areas of Law. Some of which is Employment Law, Family Law, Convenyancing, Civil disputes, as well as a little Criminal Law. What we do is, we interview clients, to see whether they qualify for Legal Aid, we then advise them accordingly or direct them to the proper source if they don’t qualify for legal aid. We determine whether they qualify based on their assets and salaries per month. Sometimes we look at the jurisdiction of law as well, we don’t do everything ie: we don’t do accident cases, or probate cases ie wills.(Though with the knowledge we have we can just give them suggestions on dealing with it) Then subsequently, if they qualify, we will give them the appropriate advise, or within a couple of weeks/months if there is no urgency, appoint a volunteer lawyer, which is not easy as we do not have enough volunteer lawyers. (volunteer lawyers= qualified lawyers, not chambering like us!)
If lets say, its a criminal matter, and they are caught for theft, its our job to represent them in court to mitigate for them for a lesser sentence. So we pretty much work as a team!
Its really fulfilling doing this.. Like there was once, i helped a young man, and his parents were so appreciative, and they said, that what we do is a very noble thing, and that not many people would dedicate so much of their time to doing this…And they thank God for such kind souls like us, and pray that we would be blessed.. That was so sweet!
