In our new episode of Malaysia Boleh, we now look at how Malaysians act in Starbucks outlets.. ok with the exception of me.. Ok what do i do? I normally go to the gym and then park at Starbucks to study there.. So what i would do is bring my bag, and my books or magazines and chuck it at Starbucks at my favourite table, and then go off to the gym for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours for a workout and then go to starbucks and spend the afternoon hanging out there.. But even though it may seem that i am ‘kiasu’ for booking the table like that, i now make sure i buy a drink first.. and chuck it there as well! haahah.. ok ok i am not any better, but wait till i tell u a little bit about Malaysians living up to the standards of the Malaysia Boleh attitude!
1. A couple, came into starbucks and conveniently switched on their laptops, and sat there for 30minutes without ordering a drink.. Then the girl got up, went to a bakery nearby, and decided to eat it in Starbucks.. without ordering a drink..*Excellent* After a while, the starbucks barista politely went up to them, and asked whether they would like to drink.. *horror* u know what they answered? ‘ Its ok thank you.. ‘ and continued doing their thing.. But the barista was persistent, and politely told them, that it would be better for them to buy a drink, because the place was packed, and that there were other paying customers who needed to use the wi-fi.. They then sheepishly bought ONE drink..
2. A group of guys walked into Starbucks.. i think 3-4 guys.. Took up one table, and switched on their laptops.. i think there was two laptops.. all crowding around it.. After abou 20-30minutes, one of them got up to buy drinks.. *shockers* He came back with ONE small bottle of juice and 4 cups filled with ice…
3. A man, a little weird i have to say.. He changes his spot every hour or so.. He did this..without ordering a drink at all.. But because the place was not that packed, the baristas let it slide..But he did this a few times.. he left starbucks and then came back a few hours later.. He took a table, switched on his laptop, and sat there for another hour or so.. by this time, it was begining to fill.. More people started coming into Starbucks.. It was then that a barista came up to him and asked him politely whether he wanted to buy a drink, he declined and said he had already purchased something..and pointed to a lollipop wrapper that cost RM1.80.. i was like *doink*
