Nothing happened today except i WRECKED my dinner?! I was initially planning to do like the perfect Sunday Roast.. (yes i know, its not sunday, but on the weekends i have lectures, so i wouldn’t be able to do the grocery shopping and the cooking anyway) But it turned out into a Sunday mess.. like big time ROYAL MESS! I was so upset i ruined dinner, that i couldn’t even eat dinner.. But for some funny reason, mum and dad ate up the whole ‘MESS’ and said the meat was very well done.. See what happened was, i had planned to have my own mash potatoes, roasted pork with crackling and herbs, oven-roasted vegetables with some herbs, my very own apple sauce, and because mom wanted soup (coz she’s been craving for some) i decided to make fresh mushroom soup..
So after an hour of Bodycombat and 30 minutes weight training at the gym, aching arms and legs, i walked towards Tescos to get the neccessary stuff.. Luckily they had the swiss brown mushrooms.. Mom’s quite anal about my mushroom soup..she wants it like the way i did it the previous times.. chunky mushroom bits in it.. and they had all the stuff i was looking for.. So i went to the non-halal section to get my pork.. the tag said, English Roast Pork..so i thought.. “Excellent… i could make my roast pork with this and get the crackling done.. it was quite expensive.. RM16 for 4oogms.. RM3.99 per 100gm.. I thought, if i could get Yorkshire pudding, it would be great.. So you would think that Tesco being a British company would have Yorkshire Pudding.. But nooooo.. they didn’t.. so what did i do?! walk all the way back to Cold Storage to check.. none as well!
So anyway i started slaving over the stove early.. My apple sauce was really nice.. Patiently stirring it certainly helped.. Cinnamon sticks and cloves make it so much nicer!! I should try apple crumble soon.. So anyway my mushroom soup turned out the way i wanted it to.. BUT the roasted pork didn’t!! *WHHHHHHHHYYYYYYY* *wails!* I marinated it with a little salt, added rosemary to the pork.. even made little holes, and stuffed the holes with rosemary so that the herby taste would hold in the meat.. But it didn’t turn out the way it was suppose to!! It didn’t…. It didn’t… I was so dissapointed.. The crackling was hardly like crackling.. All i had was like a layer of fat dripping with oil…(which i had to use a paper towel to thoroughly soak the oil out) And it was like a piece of crispy strip of overfried bacon.. I know i did not over-roast it..because it wasn’t burnt.. And the meat was tender.. I don’t know what went wrong..*sigh* I’m lucky i didn’t poison my parents.. And they like chomping down the food, saying it was really good and all… frankly? It looked disgusting… I suck at it
